About me

Hi, I’m David. I design neckties with patterns that are meant to carry meaning—something personal, not just decoration.

I spent my career as a newspaper journalist, a graphic designer, and later a technology manager. Along the way, I developed an appreciation for visual design—and for products that tell a story without shouting. That’s what eventually led me to neckties.

After years of wearing ties almost daily, I noticed that most options either felt generic or leaned too heavily into novelty. I wanted to create something different: ties that were subtle, stylish, and meaningful. That’s how I began designing flag-patterned neckties—and eventually expanded into personalized designs tied to professions, hobbies, and special occasions.

There’s also a more personal side to this journey.
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with scleroderma, an autoimmune disease. After a difficult period that included chemotherapy for lymphoma and a stroke that left my left side numb, I had to rethink how I worked. Today I do all of my design work one-handed—mostly with the help of dictation software.

This isn’t something I usually lead with, and I don’t share it to seek sympathy. But I believe it’s part of the story—because every design on this site comes from a place of focus and personal investment. I take pride in the small details, and in creating pieces that feel like yours, not just mine.

Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about me and my work. If you’ve got questions, ideas, or suggestions, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to drop me a note through the contact page.
